Summer at The Docks
Planning is well under way for Summer at The Docks.
We’ll have music along the promenade for three consecutive weekends beginning December 4.
This will coincide with Docklands Sunday Xmas markets on December 5 and The District Docklands also having three consecutive weekends of markets on the 5th, 12th and culminating on the 17th with its Xmas night markets.
New Year’s Eve in Docklands
We never thought we’d see their return but the fireworks are back for New Year’s and specifically for Docklands. The city is toning down all other NYE celebrations in favour of activating Docklands with two night-time displays – a family friendly version at 9.30pm followed by the traditional midnight launching. Make your way down, support the local restaurants and enjoy Docklands being the centre for Melbourne’s entry into 2022.
A summer of drones
Spectacularly being introduced on that night as the supporting show will be a squadron of 350 drones lighting up the Docklands sky. They will then return twice a night from January 3 to 20. Picture the amazing show that was the highlight of the Tokyo Olympics but then over our harbour. We can’t wait.
Our flagship program supporting the precinct is up and running again so if you have friends or family visiting and staying a minimum of two nights in Docklands at one of our registered accommodation providers then they are eligible for up to $210 in rebates. Have them head over to docklandsdollars.com.au to register.
Docklands Chamber Annual General Meeting
Our annual general meeting saw the retirement from The Chamber of our nine-year standing president Mrs Johanna Maxwell. We can’t thank her service to Docklands adequately. She’s aware she’s loved, and we are all grateful for her continual efforts. Daniel Hibberd, owner and director of Quest Hotel has some very big shoes to fill but we welcome him to the role along with Ahmad Trad of the Xary Group to the vice president role •
