Man drowns in Docklands

A man drowned in Victoria Harbour last month.
Witnesses saw the man remove clothing before jumping into the water near Harbour Esplanade around 5pm on February 25.
The man failed to surface and a number of police units including the Water Police and divers from the Search and Rescue Squad attended the scene to search for the man.
A police spokesperson said the man’s body was recovered near Central Pier around 6.40 pm.
The spokesperson said the man had been identified and his next of kin notified.
According to the spokesperson there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
