Docklands is continuing to grow – and so should the services that support it

Every time I’m in Docklands, I’m reminded that it’s one of Melbourne’s fastest-growing communities.

New apartment buildings continue to welcome residents, more families are calling Docklands home, and every day thousands of people come here to work, study and enjoy everything the waterfront has to offer.

It’s a vibrant part of our city, but as the community grows, so too does the need for the services and infrastructure that help people thrive.

One issue I hear about regularly is access to affordable healthcare. That’s why it’s encouraging to see more investment in strengthening Medicare and making it easier for people to see a GP without worrying about the cost. Whether you’re raising a family, studying, working long hours or enjoying retirement, being able to access affordable healthcare close to home makes a real difference.

Docklands is also becoming more family-friendly every year. More young children are growing up here, which means parks, playgrounds, childcare, schools and community spaces become even more important. These are the places where neighbours meet, children make friends and communities are built.

One of the things I enjoy most about representing Melbourne is meeting the people who make communities like Docklands so welcoming. From resident groups and local businesses to volunteers and community organisations, there are so many people working to make the neighbourhood an even better place to live.

I’m also committed to making sure Docklands has a strong voice in Canberra. Whether it’s advocating for better local services, supporting local businesses, investing in cleaner energy or ensuring our growing community gets the infrastructure it deserves, I’m focused on delivering practical outcomes that improve everyday life.

Docklands has transformed enormously over the past two decades, and it’s exciting to think about what comes next. With thoughtful planning, continued investment and a strong sense of community, there’s every reason to be optimistic about the future.
