Docklands in COVID-safe trading

Docklands in COVID-safe trading

By Shane Wylie

We’ve seen the first semblances of what society is going to look like post-lockdown. It’s still pretty grim if you ask me but it’s our new reality.

Docklands is waking up and leading the way with the first events to be held in Melbourne. We’ve already seen the return of the Sunday Markets and this will lead up to the ever-pop- ular Christmas markets on Sunday, December 6.

Before then however, The District Docklands is kicking us off with “Imaginaire” – a visual immersion hosted under the Melbourne Star. We can’t wait to get a look at it when it opens mid-November. The District will also be rein- stating its own markets with the famous doggy version first to go. Keep an eye out for our so- cials as we’ll share the details –fb.me/melbdock

Speaking of socials

Our social media has continued to do well even in lockdown times. If you’re a business in Docklands, then you really need to take advantage of our Facebook (above) and our Instagram – instagram.com/docklandsmelb and our hashtags #docklandsiloveyou and #docklandsmelb.

We’ve got a special to support our local businesses right now. We made the executive decision not to charge any of our members until the end of January 2021 but we’re extend- ing that to new members as well. So, if you’d like to take advantage of our socials and our website to ramp up your business exposure – docklandscc.com.au – then the already min- imal annual fee is being waived for the next three months.

Breaking the rules

We’ve seen a few of our local businesses hit with some fines in recent weeks, most particu- larly for renovations during the complete lock- down. So, while we can ask all of our businesses to respect the restrictions, if you do see some- one doing something wrong, then don’t take it upon yourself to point it. Use the appropriate mechanism which is the dedicated restriction breach police hotline - 131 444.
