Nothing could rain on the Bank of Queensland’s parade

Harbour Town’s Bank of Queensland (BOQ) branch celebrated its official opening on October 6 with an Asian-inspired party at the branch.

Owner-manager of the branch, Josephine Tan, said everyone had a great time and that they were very lucky that the rain cleared up at exactly the right moment.

“It had been raining all day, but we were fortunate to have it clear up when we had the lion dance. Though we didn’t mind the rain because in our culture rain means money,” Ms Tan said.

Utilising as many Docklands businesses as it could, the opening was catered by Chilli Padi and a suckling pig was supplied by Gold Leaf restaurant.

In a speech to her loyal clients, employees, friends and family, Ms Tan said she had set herself the task of becoming the “bank of choice” for the Docklands community.

BOQ managing director David Liddy attended the event and said he wished he could clone Ms Tan and her skills and talent.

Ms Tan has more than 20 years experience in banking and finance and the Docklands branch is her second BOQ branch.

“I have so much faith in the BOQ brand and have lived and breathed it for almost six years that it made sense to me to open another branch,” Josephine said.

The new branch, located at 430 Docklands Drive, is the first retail bank on the north-side of Docklands.
