The Docklands community has some new additions, with our resident swan becoming mother to four cygnets.
The black swan had built a nest on a riverbank next to the Webb Bridge in September and late last month her eggs hatched.
The news of the swan’s nest had attracted plenty of attention because she built it on a riverbank that was the site of a clean-up effort by a team of volunteers from YMCA.
Council rangers roped off the riverbank when the nest was first reported, in a reminder to locals and visitors to keep their distance.
Since the hatching, Docklands locals have reported cute sightings of the cygnets riding on their mother’s back as she swims down the river.
