Harbour Esplanade bike party

Good Cycles’ new bike hub on Harbour Esplanade was launched with a two-wheel-themed party on November 10.

Invitees were not only treated to a performance by the Velocipede Improbulators, they were also able to try the group’s unlikely cycles for themselves. Most concluded it was better to leave it to the experts.

The community bike hub has been established to offer bicycle servicing to the hundreds of cyclists who commute through Docklands on the Capital City Trail.

Good Cycles is a not-for-profit social enterprise supported by the Bank of Melbourne, Places Victoria, the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Fund, Park Tool and Intrepid.

Among other things, it recruits disadvantaged people and trains them as bicycle mechanics.
