Protestors gather in Docklands

A crowd of Construction, Forestry Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU) members protested outside Lend Lease’s Docklands headquarters  last month over alleged unpaid wages.

The CFMEU claimed workers on Lend Lease’s Bendigo Hospital project were owed weeks of unpaid labour by Lend Lease subcontractor Asset Interiors.

Asset Interiors has gone into administration and the CFMEU says the administrator had indicated that it appears Lend Lease owes in excess of $1.4 million to Asset Interiors.

A Lend Lease spokesperson said the company was aware that a subcontractor working on the Bendigo Hospital project had entered into voluntary administration.

“We are working with other contractors to assist with re-engagement of the impacted workers to complete outstanding works,” the spokesperson said.

“Lend Lease has paid all amounts due and payable to Asset Interiors for work completed on the Bendigo Hospital project.”
