Ed Sheeran makes Etihad history
By Emma Doherty
British singer-songwriter, Ed Sheeran has taken Melbourne by storm and made history, drawing in a crowd of 257,751 over four nights at Etihad Stadium.
This is the largest total crowd number for a series of concerts at Etihad.
Previous record was held by Australian rock legends, AC/DC who drew in a crowd of 181,495 during their three night Black Ice tour in 2010.
Australian singer-songwriter, Missy Higgins and hip hop trio, Bliss N Eso supported Sheeran during the Melbourne leg of his ÷ World Tour.
Despite crowd complaints of extreme weather conditions, fans were still in awe of his performance with many online attendees hailing him “one of the greats” and “a modern-day poet”.
Sheeran performed at Etihad Stadium from March 9 to March 12, and is set to finish his Australian/New Zealand tour in April.
