Follow the oily drip road

In a curious incident last month, a City of Melbourne street cleaner was seen to leave a pattern of oil in its wake as it “cleaned” Harbour Esplanade and New Quay Promenade.

As the street cleaner made its way along the waterfront, oil dripped from the machine leaving a dotted pattern behind it.

A City of Melbourne spokesperson said the council’s cleaning contractors would remove the oil that had dripped from the street-cleaning machinery.
