Community garden is underway

Work on the new Docklands community garden, to be located on the corner of Geographe St and Keera Way in Victoria Harbour, is set to start this month following the appointment in December of contractor Haylen Group.

Simon Wilson said the garden’s governance structure would be announced shortly.

Mr Wilsons said the design and management of the garden had been informed by six rounds of community consultation – three rounds on design and three rounds on governance and management.

“The community garden will include more than 20 communal planting areas, productive plants and trees, a fire pit, barbecue and seating facilities, compost bays and a children’s garden area,” Mr Wilson said.
