Strong interest in forum

Some 28 Docklanders have put their hands up to represent their suburb on the soon-to-be-formed Docklands Community Forum.

The City of Melbourne and Places Victoria are looking for 12 leading citizens to formally represent Docklands in its dealings with the authorities.

The community forum model has been designed to replace the dysfunctional Docklands Co-ordination Committee.

Under the new arrangement, as-of-right representation goes to the Chamber of Commerce, Community Association and Destination Docklands.  A further two seats are reserved for waterways operators.

The council and Places Victoria are looking for diverse representation on the forum and are due to announce their appointments at the August 21 Docklands Co-ordination Committee meeting.

The appointments will be ratified at the council meeting the following week on August 28.
