New Places Victoria chief

Places Victoria last month appointed Gregory Anderson as its chief executive officer, but he won’t take up the position until the end of March.

Mr Anderson’s appointment comes more than a year after former CEO Sam Sangster resigned.

In the interim, Places Victoria has had several acting CEOs, including Places Victoria general managers Simon Wilson and Peter Armstrong and Metropolitan Planning Authority CEO Peter Seamer, who led the organisation between March and September last year.

Chairman Ken Fehily announced the appointment on January 29, saying: “I am pleased to welcome Gregory to Places Victoria in what will be the beginning of a new chapter for the state’s urban renewal authority.”

He acknowledged that the search for a new CEO had taken some time.

“We want Places Victoria to be a sustainable business entity that can continue to lead successful urban renewal projects like Docklands while, at the same time, creating a new pipeline of incremental development-ready sites for the private sector,” he said.

“The board, therefore, makes no apologies for taking its time to make this decision.”

Mr Anderson has held a range of positions in planning and property development, both in government and in the private sector.

He was part of City of Mebourne’s Postcode 3000 team and has held senior positions with Macquarie Bank, Selpam and Tigcorp.

He’s currently general manager of development and construction at Tigcorp and will remain in this role until March, before taking up the Places Victoria CEO role on March 31.
