Sydney artist Don Talintyre has won this year’s $15,000 ANL Acquisitive Maritime Art Prize.

The prize is the centre-piece of the annual maritime art show held by the Mission to Seafarers in Flinders St, Docklands.

At the show opening on October 8, judges Ron Mather and Andrew Sibley spoke of their unanimous decision in choosing Fury of the Sea as this year’s winner, acknowledging the artist’s movement and realism.

Other winners are Julian Bruere who won the Best in Traditional Marine Art Acquisitive Award with his watercolour Men O’ War - 1794, and Jason Roberts winner of the Best Representation of Victorian Maritime History with his watercolour Dockside, Polly Woodside.

A People’s Choice Award of $3000 sponsored by the World Trade Centre, will be presented to the most popular entry.
