What does a family-friendly Docklands look like? Let’s talk …
At Community3008 Inc., we’re always asking how we can make Docklands a better place to live, work and thrive. This month, we’re turning our attention to one of the most important voices in our neighbourhood: families.
What does a family-friendly Docklands look like to you?
Is it safe play spaces? More activities for kids? Accessible parks and open spaces? Greater support for parents and carers? Better connections to schools? We want to hear from you.
As part of our work to build a stronger, more inclusive Docklands, we’re starting a community conversation about what families need and how we can make this suburb a true home for people of all ages.
Whether you’re raising young kids, have teenagers, are a carer, grandparent, or just want Docklands to be a welcoming place for families – your voice matters. Get in touch with us or join one of our upcoming events (details below).
Docklands Farmers Market: A local favourite with a new home
If you haven’t been to the Docklands Farmers Market lately, you’re missing out on one of the suburb’s best community events.
Held on the first Sunday of every month, the market is more than just great produce – it’s become a place where neighbours meet, families gather, and community grows.
With stalls full of fresh fruit and veg, artisan goods, and locally made delights, it’s a fantastic outing for families and foodies alike. Kids love the open space, live music, and occasional furry friends, and grown-ups love the coffee and chats.
And now, thanks to a new agreement with Marvel Stadium, the market will continue rain or shine – because consistency matters.
For the next three months – Sundays September 7, October 5 and November 7 – the market will be held inside Marvel Stadium, Gate 3, keeping it warm, dry, and just as vibrant.
We’re thrilled to see Marvel stepping up to support this community tradition. Their hospitality helps ensure Docklands continues to grow into the lively, people-friendly place we all want it to be.
Join us – let’s build a better Docklands together
We’ll be hosting Community3008 catch-ups at the market and around the neighbourhood in the coming weeks. These informal get-togethers are a great chance to meet other locals, sign up as a member, share your ideas, and get involved in shaping the future of our suburb. This is in advance of our AGM which will be held in October, with a planned panel coming to talk all things Docklands so stay tuned!
