The Melbourne Boat Show is back in Docklands

The 62nd Melbourne Boat Show is back this year at NewQuay Promenade and Harbour Esplanade for the third year in a row in Docklands.

Showcasing a range of waterfront boating activities, family and cooking entertainment, and presentations by guest speakers, the event will run across a span of four days from October 17 to 20.

With free entry and no bookings required, Victoria’s premier boating event will host more than 100 exhibitors and brands. Visitors can expect to see cruising yachts, ski boats, pontoons, jet skis, as well as live seafood cooking demonstrations and marquees along the river.

Showtimes will run daily from: Thursday: 3pm to 6pm, Friday: 10am to 6pm, Saturday: 10am to 6pm, and Sunday: 10am to 4pm.

“As well as 100 exhibitors, there are new activations: a seafood cooking precinct, and a heritage and wooden boat precinct on site this year. There are also tour ships, steamboats, and classic wooden boats. The location is new and it’s the first time they have been on presentation in this new location,” Boating Industry Association of Victoria (BIAV) CEO Steve Walker said.

Providing a family-oriented environment, there will also be a dedicated Suzuki Marine Kidz entertainment zone, a rig rundown boat competition, and a range of music with prizes up for grabs.

By booking a free ticket and scanning it at the gate, customers will go into a draw to win prizes including Melbourne Boat show vouchers, a Boatcatch Trailer System, Casio Pro Trek watch, boat hire vouchers, and more by the Melbourne Boat show sponsor Boatsales.

For those who enjoy the boating and fishing lifestyle or are curious to learn more about the practice, live talks will be held on the Honda Marine stage discussing the King George whiting, southern calamari, Murray cod, snappers and southern bluefin tuna fish.

The event comes at an ideal time as Melbourne enters the boating season, with last year’s event attracting more than 42,500 visitors.

“It’s traditionally been an indoor event at the Melbourne Convention Centre. In 2022 it transitioned to outdoor. It’s been quite a success in that lifestyle, and it’s doubled in size since year one,” Mr Walker said.

Bringing the Docklands community together and attracting visitors, Mr Walker says the Melbourne Boat show brings a “positive vibe” to the community.

“A lot of the locals come out and give positive affirmation about the event and are happy to get involved. The Docklands Primary School is presenting awards on Monday and a lot of local businesses are heavily involved.”
