Smile, you’re on Google Maps

Docklands was imprinted on the world stage last month when Google pedalled a three-wheeled photographic contraption through the precinct.
The “spy” tricycle was equipped with 360-degree photographic vision and GPS plotting technology.
Google, it seems, is photographing the planet for its online mapping service.
But while the space-age technology aboard the device was run by a small petrol generator, the rider was left to propel the beast using old-fashioned pedal power.
He was grateful for Docklands News’ local knowledge of ramp access to the stadium concourse from LaTrobe St – having earlier contemplated lifting, pushing and pulling the trike up the stairs from Harbour Esplanade!
