Walk for Petwellness returns to Docklands
By Helena Morgan
Pooches and their carers are invited to a five-kilometre walk around Docklands in support of a community-based animal rescue organisation for the second year running.
Following the success of last year’s “Walk for PetWellness,” PetWell and Realestate Services by Mirvac is hosting another walk to generate awareness surrounding pet wellness in the community.
The 5km walk is on Sunday May 7, starting at Point Park in Docklands. Those involved will walk to Ron Barrassi Senior Park and return to Point Park.
All dog owners and non-dog owners are invited to attend the fun and enjoyable day, which will feature stalls, complimentary canine dental health checks and body scoring exams and the services of a pet caricaturist to draw portraits of the cherished pooches.
Funds from the walk will be donated entirely to Second Chance Animal Rescue (SCAR), a clinic based in Craigieburn committed to saving shelter animals and providing veterinary care and pet food for families in crises.
Pet Well is aiming to register 500 people for the walk, however, 100 per cent of the registration fees will be donated to SCAR. The cost to register is $29.
PetWell co-founder Ayda Hornak is anticipating another excellent day out for dog owners and enthusiasts alike.
“The event is a great opportunity to bond with our furry friends while raising awareness for PetWellness,” she said.
