Marvel Stadium serves up September fun with new Stadium Sports program
Marvel Stadium is set to transform into Melbourne’s newest hub for social sport, food and entertainment this September with the launch of Stadium Sports.
Running from Wednesday, September 17 to Sunday, October 5, the initiative will see the Docklands venue open its doors seven days a week (excluding public holidays) to welcome sports fans, corporate groups and casual players keen to experience the city’s biggest stadium in a whole new way.
At the heart of the program, supported by Mountain Goat, is Stadium Smash Pickleball, a dedicated zone at Stadium Square Gate 2/3 boasting three full-sized pickleball courts.
Billed as one of Australia’s fastest-growing sports, pickleball combines elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis, and has quickly gained popularity for its accessibility and social vibe. Each booking includes premium paddles, balls and scoreboards, catering for everyone from weekend dabblers to die-hard competitors.
Complementing the action on court is the Stadium Sports Clubhouse – a lively social hub where visitors can relax over food and drinks, catch the Toyota AFL Finals on big screens, and soak up the atmosphere. The clubhouse will sit alongside Marvel Stadium’s premium dining offerings Friends of Fire and The Wine Room, making it a perfect spot for groups or post-match catchups.
Former AFL player and Producey founder Dylan Buckley, who has been named ambassador for the initiative, said Stadium Sports would redefine how fans engage with the precinct.

“As someone with a proud history of 10 games and five crucial goals at Marvel Stadium, I’m excited to be involved and launch the new Stadium Sports initiative that is set to transform the Marvel Stadium precinct like never before,” Buckley said.
“Whether you’re a die-hard sports fan watching the AFL Finals on the big screens, a weekend social player, or even if you just come for the food, music and vibes – there’s truly something for everyone.”
The program builds on Marvel Stadium’s recent push to activate the precinct beyond traditional event days, following the successful introduction of Stadium Golf in 2023. More sports are set to be announced over the coming weeks, including opportunities for Australian football and other social games.
Scott Fitzgerald, general manager of Marvel Stadium, said the new offering reflected the venue’s ambition to deliver experiences all year round.
“Marvel Stadium is committed to being a venue that delivers epic moments 365 days a year, and the introduction of Stadium Sports is another example of how we are continuing to provide fans with new experiences to enjoy,” Mr Fitzgerald said.
General manager at Mountain Goat, Josh Croal, said the partnership was a natural fit. “Goat is born and brewed in Melbourne, and we know how special footy finals and sports are at this time of year. It’s the perfect moment to come together, enjoy great beer and all that this event has to offer.”
Tickets for pickleball start at $50 (plus handling fees), while entry to the Stadium Sports Clubhouse is free. More details and bookings are available via marvelstadium.com.au.
