Kids go free this September school holidays at Port Phillip Ferries
Back by popular demand, Port Phillip Ferries is once again flinging open the ferry doors for kids to travel free during the September school holiday period.
Children aged from four to 16 can jump on the ferry (with their parents or guardians) free of charge staring from Saturday, September 17.
This offer will be available right across the school holidays until Sunday, October 2, so there’s plenty of time to jump abord and embark on an adventure with the family.
With the huge success of this offer during the last school holiday, Port Phillip Ferries marketing manager Brad Wright said it was great to see so many kids and families get out and about during the cooler months.
“With inside and outside seating available, it’s a great opportunity to travel in a safe environment and get a dose of fresh air as you cruise across Port Phillip Bay to or from Melbourne,” Mr Wright said. “And you may even spot the odd dolphin or seal along the way.”
“The journey itself is something the kids will want to do again and again, but apart from the ferry ride it’s all about the destination and there are so many great school holiday activities happening on both sides of the Bay, so why not make getting there a part of the adventure.”
“From Imaginaria, ice skating and the Artvo gallery in District Docklands to all the AFL footy finals at the MCG, there’s plenty of free, low-cost and virtual events that will entertain the whole family on the Melbourne side.”
Or if you’re in Melbourne and looking for something different to entertain the kids, look no further than Geelong. School holiday activities in Geelong are a child’s dream and include a museum designed purely for kids (MOPA) and a waterfront precinct with endless fun including a giant sky wheel, train rides and a beautifully restored historic carousel that is a must for everyone.
With the freeway so congested by roadwork delays there has never been a better time to take the easy way across the Bay. It’s all about jumping on the ferry and having a much nicer experience, and with kids being able to travel for free it such a cost-effective way to travel.
Added to all of this Port Phillip Ferries has just opened its brand-new Melbourne Ferry Terminal, a brand-new modern facility in Docklands where the ferry pulls in. It has all the creature comforts including accessible toilets, a tourist information hub, and a full-service café with lots of tables and seating where you can enjoy a bite to eat while overlooking the stunning Victoria Harbour.
