Hamish is living the high-rise life
Meet Hamish: the local Docklands miniature Fox Terrier with his own private balcony.
As Docklands News sat on the promenade looking out at the water with Docklands resident Charlynn, her miniature Fox Terrier Hamish is enjoying one of his favourite pastimes – watching the black swans.
A couple of years ago, when Charlynn went to pick up Hamish, her partner also fell in love with Hamish’s little sister, Molly, and they took them home together.
“His name was Hamish because one of the breeder’s best mates had passed away the week before the dogs were born, and his name was Hamish. So, we kept the name.”
“Molly’s name was Dolly and my partner said, ‘that’s not going to work …’ so we changed it.”
Hamish and Molly go to Diggiddy Dog Daycare in South Melbourne every week.
“It gives them a chance to get exhausted, because it’s hard to exhaust this dog,” Charlyn said.
Despite Hamish’s boundless energy, which is hard to imagine as he sits quietly still for our interview, Hamish and Molly enjoy their apartment lifestyle.
Charlynn has even securely blocked off a section of the balcony and added a dog door so that the siblings can enjoy the fresh air. But it’s not all smooth sailing for little Hamish …
“He’s got a bit of a mouth on him, so he likes to bark. And we’re next door to an Airbnb,” Charlynn laughed. “But he does alright, he’s getting better.”
“They’re clever little dogs. They’re good to have around.” •
