A hotel might not be the first place you think of when it comes to spending time at your “local,” but at Four Points by Sheraton Melbourne Docklands, Docklanders are doing exactly that.

Whether it be their locals-only discounts at Dock 18 Restaurant and Bar, experiences in partnership with Port Phillip Ferries, Marvel Stadium or The District Docklands, or just the opportunity to escape the heat in their level seven swimming pool, Docklanders are turning Four Points into the “locals’ choice hotel.”

General manager of Four Points by Sheraton Melbourne Docklands, Chris Johns, said the development of local partnerships has been crucial to the success, not just of the hotel, but the wider business community.

“We are working on partnerships within the suburb to create Docklands as its own destination within the Melbourne market,” Mr Johns said.

“We are working with a range of businesses, including Port Phillip Ferries, Marvel Stadium, The District Docklands, O’Brien Icehouse and Docklands Studios, on how we can enhance experiences in Docklands and support one another.”

For all locals who can prove they are a resident of Docklands, Four Points offers a 20 per cent discount off their bill at Dock 18.

Alongside their daily “Happy Hour” deals, locals will find a range of weekday specials sure to scratch your dining itch, no matter what day it is. They are Monday Fish and Chips, Tuesday Pizza Night, Wednesday Parma Night, Thursday Steak Night, and Friday Hibachi Grill.

“Dock 18 is a popular spot among NewQuay residents, and as we are open for breakfast as well, we one of the few all-day dining options in the area,” Mr Johns said.

You can have a city staycation and stay in the city, without actually being in the city. The advantage of being in a hotel in Docklands, you have views for kilometres, but if you stay in the CBD, you might be looking across a laneway at another building.

“You experience a lot of tranquillity staying in Docklands, but you’re still in the free tram zone and in five to eight minutes, you could be in the heart of the city.”

On hot days, Mr Johns explained, the hotel sees large increase in “on the day bookings” from people within Docklands who want to use the large outdoor swimming pool.

With a west-facing pool boasting spectacular views and sunsets, it’s not hard to realise why.

Four Points by Sheraton Melbourne Docklands is located at 443 Docklands Dr.
