Local fashion is forward

Almost as soon as they arrived, the fashion savvy and style snappers fluttering around Central Pier have gone again.  

Like a flurry of models escaping the runway, the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF) for 2013 came, entertained and left without a trace, except perhaps, a bit of a hole in your wallet.

The festival pitched as “a fashion event for everybody to enjoy” by the LMFF chief executive, Graeme Lewsey surely showed off the talents of local designers, in very wearable and very “Melbourne” styles.

City staple Gorman continues to show Melburnians that bright is best, with a myriad of geometric and animal prints, bright orange coats paired back with classic neutrals. The continued success of the brand highlights that playful and quirky clothing continues to dominate the Melbourne market.

Local designers Kuwaii blended paired back elegance with modern tailoring in a sea of beautiful colours – lilac, yellow and teal. Perfectly suited to banish those winter blues.

Jolet features digitally printed cityscapes, paired with navy and black tones with LIFEwithBIRD combined sports luxe with evening wear suggesting we’re in for comfort and practical dressing this season. All designed in Melbourne, these local designers know how to dress for this city and make it such an enjoyable affair.
