School holiday fun in Docklands

30 Jun 2015

The winter school holidays are here and Docklands is the perfect place to explore when cabin fever sets in.

There’s always plenty happening in Docklands and, come school holiday time, there are even more options for all ages.

Docklands’ Library at the Dock is hosting a range of activities throughout the school holidays.

Learn how to build a game controller using bananas at the “Makey Makey” session on July 1, develop cake decorations skills at “Cake decorating with Pearly” on July 8 or get creative at “Ultimate Crafts” on July 10.

Film lovers will also enjoy screenings of Wallace and Grommit on from 11am-1pm on July 3 and The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child from 11am-1pm on July 5.

For more information and to book your place visit http://www.melbourne.vic.gov.au/MelbourneLibraryService/Kids/Pages/SHP.aspx

There’s also plenty happening on the other side of the harbour at Harbour Town Shopping Centre.

Until July 3, kids can have fun decorating their own Giggle and Hoot ceramic owls from 11am-3pm at the Harbour Town craft village. Characters Hoot and Hootabelle will also be making daily appearances.

Between Monday, July 6 and Friday, July 10 the Transformers will assemble at Harbour Town’s craft village.

Between 11am and 3pm daily kids can get creative and decorate their own facemasks and Transformers hero Bumblebee will make daily appearances.

Wander through Harbour Town and you soon reach Wonderland Fun Park, another great school holiday location.

There are plenty of rides to entertain the kids and during the school holidays and zoologist Chris Humfrey will bring his live show “Zoo Comes to You” to the Wonderland Spiegeltent.

Running from July 2 to July 12, visitors will have the chance to meet a koala, pat a possum, say hello to a giant python snake, smile at a crocodile and see many other Australian animals.
