Docklands sex offender arrested after alleged breach of bail

Docklands resident and registered sex offender Albino Godwill D’Souza has been remanded in custody after police alleged he breached strict bail conditions by secretly accessing social media and sympathising with alleged police killer Dezi Freeman.

D’Souza, 48, was arrested on September 17 prior to what Docklands News understands was a fast-tracked hearing in the Melbourne Magistrates Court due to the seriousness of the allegations and the risk posed to community safety.

It comes just months after Docklands News first revealed that D’Souza – who operates the adult massage business Adonis Massage Studio out of his Waterview Walk apartment – had avoided a jail sentence despite repeated breaches of his sex offender reporting obligations.

At the time, a magistrate warned that any further breach would almost certainly lead to imprisonment.

According to an article by the Herald Sun on September 18, police told the court that D’Souza had used multiple social media accounts linked to his massage parlour, including an X account under the handle adonismassage69. They allege he posted inflammatory comments about fugitive police killer Dezi Freeman, including that Mr Freeman “should have shot more cops.”

Victoria Police prosecutors argued that D’Souza had “no respect” for police and showed a “complete disregard for court process,” describing the case as “serious offending whilst on bail.”

Court records show D’Souza still had one hour remaining on a Community Corrections Order for previous breaches. He is now facing fresh charges after Instagram and Snapchat were allegedly discovered on his phone.

According to the Herald Sun report, D’Souza’s defence claimed he misunderstood the conditions of his bail, believing the ban applied only to work-related accounts. His lawyer also pointed to delays in police analysis of his phone.

But the Herald Sun reported that Magistrate Gregory McNamara rejected those arguments, saying he found the prosecution’s case strong. “I don’t accept Mr D’Souza didn’t understand,” he said, refusing bail.

D’Souza will remain in custody until his next court appearance on October 14.

His arrest has renewed concern about loopholes in Victoria’s laws that allow registered sex offenders to operate in the adult industry, an issue first raised by Docklands News in July.

With D’Souza’s business still advertised online, questions remain about how effectively offenders on the sex offenders register are monitored, and what protections exist for the community.
