Is Yarra’s Edge the most southern end of Docklands?
30th October, 2014
If you answered yes, then you stand to be corrected.
According to both City of Melbourne and State Government maps, if you cross from Yarra’s Edge to the other side of Lorimer St you’re still in Docklands.
It’s commonly been considered that the northern side of Lorimer St is the southern boundary of Docklands.
However, both City of Melbourne and state planning department’s suburb boundary maps show that a small section of land on the southern side of Lorimer St, between Fishermans Bend and South Wharf, is in actual fact, part of Docklands.
Instead of Lorimer St, the maps indicate that the Westgate Freeway serves as the most Southern boundary of Docklands.
