Docklands part of Melbourne Day
31st July, 2009
Sunday, August 30 is Melbourne Day, and Docklands will be playing its part.
The day marks 174 years since European settlers first arrived on the north banks of the Yarra River.
Melbourne Day is a time to celebrate everything that makes Melbourne great.
The Melbourne flag will be raised at Enterprize Park at 10am – the site where Captain John Lancey and his crew first set foot on the banks of the Yarra in 1835.
Afterwards, enjoy a free tour aboard a replica of the schooner Enterprize, the famous tall ship that Melbourne’s first European settlers travelled on. This striking ship will be berthed at Waterfront City, Docklands, and is open free to the public to celebrate Melbourne Day.
