Docklander Alberto Simongini lays down roots at Trielle
For Docklands resident Alberto Simongini, the decision to buy into developer Mirvac’s latest Yarra’s Edge project was as much about community as it was about real estate.
Standing proudly outside Trielle, now under construction on the north-facing bank of the Yarra, Alberto said the purchase represented the next chapter in his long connection to the precinct.
Having rented in nearby towers for the past four years, he decided it was time to make Yarra’s Edge his permanent home.
“The decision to purchase is essentially because I love this area,” Alberto said. “We are in the city, but not really in the city. I can walk to work, enjoy the river and the community here. It’s unique.”
Originally from Turin, Italy, Alberto came to Melbourne 18 years ago on what was meant to be a temporary work assignment.
Now an Australian citizen and general manager of technology at The Good Guys, he lives with his daughter Victoria and said providing her with stability was a big part of his choice to buy.
“As a single dad I’ve moved a lot with my daughter over the years, and now she’s in high school I want to give her some stability,” he said. “It’s a home for her to enjoy long-term.”
Trielle is being pitched as Mirvac’s most luxurious tower to date, with larger apartments and a suite of resident amenities designed for contemporary city living. For Alberto, these features helped tip the balance.
“There’s a lot of attention to detail,” he said.
The building has everything – the pool set in landscaped gardens, a residents’ library, co-working spaces with meeting rooms, and bigger apartments compared to the earlier towers. For me, working from home part of the week, having those spaces available is very compelling.
The Yarra’s Edge precinct has been two decades in the making and is now home to a thriving community, which Alberto said had been a major drawcard.
“There’s a real sense of belonging here,” he said. “You see familiar faces at the cafes, walking their dogs or the marina. It’s a community within the city.”
For now, Alberto continues to enjoy the lifestyle that first brought him to Docklands – the convenience of walking to work, time on the marina, and weekends exploring Melbourne with Victoria.
But with Trielle due for completion in the coming years, he’s looking forward to finally putting down permanent roots.
“This is a property for my daughter and I,” he said. “It’s low-maintenance, secure, and in a place we love. Yarra’s Edge feels like home.” •
