ACE on display

Docklands’ brand new extended Automative Centre of Excellence is all but completed and will be ready for students in the new year.

Stage two of the Kangan Institute of TAFE’s facility will be open to the public this month and there is plenty on display.

The $84 million extension has been awarded a 5-Star Green Star rating for its environmental credentials and the Kangan Institute is keen to show off the new building to its Docklands neighbours.

There is a series of pre-launch guided tours to show off the building’s unique design and state-of-the-art equipment.  Leaving every 15 minutes from reception, tours will be conducted on:

Wednesday December 7, 7pm to 9.30pm

Saturday December 10, 9am to 1pm

Monday December 12, 7pm to 9.30pm

The campus includes the latest auto-technology including a dynamometer and emissions testing centre for trucks, cars and motorcycles with “real world” testing capabilities, the latest diagnosis systems and learning technology, unique spaces available for event hire and product training purposes and a distinct convergence of industry and learning environments.

The institute is particularly proud of its dynamometer centre and auto electrical laboratory.

Located on the ground floor, the brand-new $6.5m Active Dynamometer Centre houses four leading-edge dynamometers designed to test all-wheel drive vehicles, motorbikes, trucks and buses and engines with real-world simulation.

Available for hire by industry partners, this testing facility will attract the very latest and newest automotive technology in the industry.

“This means that our students will be learning within an invigorating environment with the latest innovations happening all around them!” the spokesperson said.
