Spring into community: Let’s talk Docklands

Spring has arrived, and with it, a renewed energy in Docklands. The days are getting longer, the air a little warmer, and it’s the perfect time to reconnect with your neighbours and get involved in shaping our community.

At Community3008 Inc., we’re building momentum toward our annual general meeting (AGM), which will be held on the evening of Wednesday, November 27. It will be a celebration of our first year as a community association, the welcome of a new committee, and a chance to hear from a special guest panel (to be announced in next month’s edition!).

But before the AGM, we’re inviting locals to join us for a series of community meetups, casual catchups where you can have a cuppa on us, share what matters to you, and help shape the agenda for the year ahead. Whether you’ve lived in Docklands for 10 years or 10 days, we want to hear from you.

Farmers Market – this month at Marvel Stadium

Don’t forget the Docklands Farmers Market is on again this month, on Sunday, October 6, and will be held inside Gate 3 at Marvel Stadium. This iconic monthly event is a showcase of the best Victorian produce, from fresh fruits and vegetables to cheeses, baked goods, and flowers, all with a vibrant local vibe.

It’s also a great place to meet your neighbours, say hello to Community3008 members, and discover what’s happening in our suburb. Come down, bring a bag, grab a coffee, and enjoy a Sunday morning filled with good food and good company.

Celebrating connection – one year of Community3008

As we approach our first AGM, we’re reflecting on everything we’ve built together: new connections, shared advocacy, and a growing sense of pride in what Docklands can be. Community3008 Inc. was formed to give residents and traders a stronger voice, and the AGM is your opportunity to guide our direction for the year ahead.

Neighbourhood spotlight: The Mahjong Crew

Community is built one conversation at a time - and sometimes, over tiles and tea. We’d love to spotlight our wonderful Mahjong group, which meets fortnightly right here in Docklands.

They’ve grown from a few participants to now often getting 25 people together for the evening. It’s a great way to learn something new, unwind, and meet locals in a relaxed and friendly space. You can find out more.
