Docklands resident Shahzad Siddiqui has long loved the inner-city lifestyle that his family calls home. Now, he’s giving back to the community that welcomed them by opening Success Tutoring – Docklands, a new academic support centre focused on helping local children thrive.

Officially opened in March, the centre is already attracting families from across the suburb with its personalised tutoring model, tailored to the Victorian curriculum. Mr Siddiqui, who lives nearby, said the business had been a natural progression for his family.

“I love Docklands because it’s the city – but not in the city,” he said. “You get all the convenience, but it’s quieter and more open. We have settled in really well, and we’ve really connected with the community here. It felt right to build something that gives back.”

Success Tutoring is one of the fastest-growing tutoring brands in Australia. Mr Siddiqui saw a gap in the local education landscape and jumped at the chance to bring the franchise to Docklands.

“There wasn’t a tutoring centre here offering the kind of individualised support we do. And because I come from a family of teachers, even though I’ve worked in banking and finance, this felt like a great way to contribute.”

While he’s spent most of his career in corporate roles, including at ANZ and one of Singapore’s largest banks, Mr Siddiqui says his family’s deep roots in education inspired the pivot.

Success Tutoring Docklands currently offers English and maths support for students from Grade 1 to Year 12, with both group and one-on-one options available. Sessions are conducted in small batches – capped at six students – to ensure maximum individual attention. Flexible scheduling via an easy-to-use app has made the service popular with busy parents.

In its first few weeks, the centre has already enrolled 25 students and is steadily growing, with strong word-of-mouth endorsements from families.

The feedback from parents has been fantastic, Mr Siddiqui said. They’ve been impressed by the tutors, especially the patience and attention they give. We’ve had students improve their school performance and even win awards. That kind of progress means a lot.

The team currently includes three tutors, with more expected to join soon. All content is centrally developed and aligned to the Victorian curriculum, with each student following a personalised program, even in group classes.

Mr Siddiqui said being local had helped foster trust with parents who were seeking reliable, long-term support.

“It’s important to people that we have lived here for a while, and we’re not a pop-up business,” he said. “They know we’re here for the community and here to stay.”

For Docklands, a suburb with a growing population and increasing demand for family services, Success Tutoring brings more than academic support – it brings a sense of shared investment in the area’s future.

“We’ve already had parents say how glad they are we’re here,” Mr Siddiqui said. “It’s about more than just tutoring – it’s about building something that benefits the whole community.”

Success Tutoring Docklands is located at Shop 8 G/427 Docklands Drive in NewQuay.
