Body Fit West Melbourne: empowering fitness and community

At Body Fit West Melbourne, Henry Offord and his team are dedicated to delivering top-tier training and ensuring clients experience the exhilaration of achieving the “box jump feeling”.

Driven by their shared passion for fitness, Henry and his wife Sheree opened Body Fit West Melbourne in 2020, drawn to the franchise’s innovative use of technology and science backing their training methods.

“The idea was that every time you come in, you don’t really need to think too much, especially with people being so busy and mentally fatigued because they have decisions to make every minute of every day,” Henry told Docklands News.

“We wanted to give people the opportunity to alleviate that burden and keep them moving in a way that we both believe really is the best option for group-based training on the market.”

Body Fit offers a diverse range of training programs to cater to every fitness goal and skill level.

Among its most popular sessions are high-intensity cardio workouts, along with specialised “hyper” and “pump” sessions designed for those focusing on strength training.

“We have a very strongly-held view that we should be the best 50 minutes of people’s day,” Henry said.

People have a lot of stuff going on in their lives that might impact how they’re feeling. I believe we provide a safe haven where they can, even if it’s just momentarily, forget about that and concentrate on themselves.

While walking into a gym can be intimidating, Henry and his team are committed to ensuring that every member leaves each session with what he describes as the exhilarating “box jump feeling”.

“People are often quite scared of box jumps. They could trip or are worried about looking silly in front of others. But watching people do that first box jump and the look and smile on their faces, it just captures everything that is enjoyable about what we do.”

While Henry insisted he “can’t claim too much credit” for the wonderful community at their West Melbourne location, the diverse and welcoming group of members stands as a testament to the inclusive culture of the gym.

“We lucked into having a group of members that are really awesome, and that has a lot to do with the people who live in West Melbourne and the surrounding area,” he said.

“We’re very proud of the community we have and how comfortable people feel training with us and the amount our coaching team care. They really do care, and they’re there to help everybody achieve.” •
