A Docklands favourite now open on Sundays
For Docklanders Sunday is now the day to enjoy your favourite pub classics at Platform 28.
Formerly a railway goods shed, Platform 28 stays true to the history of the site, bringing a rustic historical charm that has won the heart of locals for the past 13 years.
Noticing a need to fill the gulf of options for a relaxed Sunday meal around Victoria Harbour, Platform 28 general manager, Dave Gurdler, decided his team “wanted to bridge that gap for the community,” and with it he has brought a rejuvenated seasonal menu featuring vibrant and refreshing meals and drinks.
“We’ve just reached 13 years in October, and what our customers have expected over that period has been great food, great service and a relaxed ambience,” Mr Gurdler said.
We noticed there aren’t many places opened for lunch or dinner on a Sunday on our side of Docklands. Now, we are open every day of the week, to continue delivering that service we have become renowned for.
“With spring here, and summer approaching, our beer garden is always a favourite to enjoy the outdoors but protected from the elements.”
“We have a huge range of tap beer, with Carlton Draught tank beer recently installed, we have a great range of spritzes and cocktails, and our seasonal menu is just about to launch.”
Mr Gurdler said he expected locals to enjoy the new menu additions like pan seared salmon on a Japanese style salad or the pan seared barramundi on a Vietnamese-style slaw.
You’ll also find the usual range of pub classics like Black Angus beef burger with cheese, bacon, cos, tomato, gherkin, aioli, and American mustard sided with chips and tomato relish; free range chicken parmigiana topped with leg ham, Napoli sauce and mozzarella served with chips and house salad, and a selection of local pasture fed steaks.
“The past few months we have noticed an uptick in weekday trading from corporates and residents,” Mr Gurdler said. “With a good return from international visitors, along with our usual locals and corporates, we’ve bounced back and surpassing pre-COVID patronage.”
Platform 28 is open seven days a week, 12pm to late. •
