Marriott Hotels’ first purpose-built development in more than 25 years is now open in Docklands.

A strong turnout graced the hotels foyer for the official opening which saw deputy Lord Mayor Nicholas Reece, Capital Alliance founder and the hotel’s owner Mohan Du, and Melbourne Marriott Hotel Docklands general manager Girish Talreja, cut the ceremonial ribbon on a landmark day for Docklands’ visitation and leisure market.

Featuring 189 guest rooms and a one-of-a-kind public access rooftop infinity pool with an adjoining bar offers panoramic views across Melbourne’s CBD skyline, Bolte Bridge, Port Phillip Bay and Hobsons Bay.

The development includes a ground level restaurant, laneway café, rooftop bar and Australia’s first “M Club” executive lounge.

“I am so proud to stand here and say to everyone, hand on heart, we have delivered on our vision and have not taken any shortcuts,” Mr Du said.

“Today’s opening is about team Melbourne. It’s about showing the world and Melburnians that we are open for business for guests domestic and international and shows that we can retain our title as the world’s most liveable city.” •
