Needing some sleep

I have read your article The Docklands factor (issue 84) with interest.

It would already solve some issues if residents were not constantly given the feeling that they come last in the food chain. Restaurants and shops count, which is why the street cleaning with water once a week has to be done between 11 pm and midnight (when shops are closed). The same is true for the street cleaning in general which happens at 6 am on Saturdays and Sundays.

Residents who are already kept awake by youths screaming and smashing bottles until 2 am will be woken up again at 6 am when the city chooses to clean. I did call and ask if the cleaning could be done Saturday and Sunday during the day. I followed up with another call one month later, which caused annoyance.

We have been living in the Docklands for one year now and won’t stay. Someone who works hard to pay these exorbitant rents should be able to get some sleep.

Kind regards,

Andrea Leber
