After a difficult 18 months for Melbourne, Father Bob McGuire plans to spread Christmas cheer with a cruise around Victoria Harbour on Melbourne showboat Lady Cutler.

The “Cruise for Kindness” will take place on December 3 and funds will go towards the Father Bob Maguire Foundation’s work to feed the hungry and house the homeless.

Father Bob said the three-hour catered cruise would take place from 12.30pm to 4pm and cost $120 per head.

“It is magical to see Docklands leading the way in their show of kindness and generosity with the Melbourne Showboat Lady Cutler as a shining star,” Fr Bob said.

The cruise is thanks to Docklands’ business owner, Jeff Gordon, who is lending Lady Cutler to the Father Bob team free of charge.

“This type of generosity is too good to be true,” Fr Bob said.

With Christmas around the corner it is the ‘time for giving’ so we invite Melburnians and indeed Victorians, to dig deep and support our three major events on the 2021 calendar.

The Father Bob Foundation is also running “We need a Little Christmas Variety Show” – a free live event on December 15 at Fed Square’s main stage.

The annual Fr Bob Toy Run will also take place the week prior to Christmas, in which motorcyclists from all over the state come together to distribute gifts to needy children.

These events come after the foundation served up a thousand meals every day for the past two years to those most affected by the pandemic.

Father Bob urged those who had the means to donate to dig deep so that everyone could share in the Christmas spirit.

“Come one, come all, spend a little time with me and make a big donation to the ongoing work of the Foundation and, help bring some joy, hope and cheer this holiday season.” •
