Woolworths opened to the community on October 9 at The District Docklands, further invigorating NewQuay with almost 100 new jobs.
Locals can now enjoy a wider range of produce, from fish to frittatas, as well as a loading area for pick-up orders.
Woolworths store manager Ragu Jevachandran said the new store had brought 90 new team members, with some 20 employees transferring from neighbouring stores.
“The new store home is a convenient gateway for Melbourne shoppers, with well-connected public transport, major highways and easily accessible network of cycling trails,” he said.
“Our teams have spent a great deal of time understanding how our customers like to shop and designed the store with local customer needs in mind just in time ahead of the festive season.”
The store includes all the tried and tested crowd favourite sections such as the deli, bakery and seafood store, but boasts some extra features too. The Macro Wholefoods market features an extensive range of organic products to suit a variety of dietary requirements, including a gluten-free range.
The District Woolworths officially opened on Wednesday, October 9 and will open 7am -11pm seven days a week.
