Rotary to meet at lunchtime

Commencing on August 7, the Rotary Club of Docklands will be holding a lunchtime meeting at Watermark on the first Tuesday of each month.

The Docklands Rotary club is quickly growing its projects and is looking for new members to help.

Its international project helps alleviate poverty and empower women in Fiji and its local project is called “Growing Docklands” – which is about connecting our community.

So far, the club has: connected children from the Children’s Hospital with a sailing experience; connected marginalised youth with Docklands events and experiences, as well as providing some admin assistance for the newly-formed community garden.

A special feature of the “Growing Docklands” project will be the 2013 Docklands Festival of Giving. This festival, from March 4 to 10 next year, is about celebrating the many ways the people and businesses of Docklands give – both locally and globally. By showcasing the real generosity of our Docklands community, the festival is “a little bit of soul-raising!”

The August 7 Rotary lunch meeting will be the club’s launch of the 2013 Docklands Festival of Giving. It will meet at Watermark at 12.30pm and everyone is welcome.
