New chair for Destination Docklands

New chair for Destination Docklands

Destination Docklands has a new chairperson following the resignation of Dr David Cochrane.

Following two years in the role, Dr Cochrane stepped down from the position last month.

Existing Destination Docklands board member Darren Walls has been appointed to the position.

“I leave the role of chairperson in good hands and I am pleased that Darren Walls has accepted a nomination and has been appointed to the role of chairperson with the unanimous support of the board,” Dr Cochrane said.

“I have full confidence in Darren to lead Destination Docklands into the next chapter.”

Mr Walls has served on the Destination Docklands board since 2012 and has experience in tourism, leisure and sport.

He has previously worked with Grollo Leisure and Tourism and Zoos Victoria and in January this year established Darren Walls & Associates Consulting.

Mr Walls was responsible for conducting Destination Docklands’ strategic review earlier this year.

“Given the findings of the review Destination Docklands has become more focused on stakeholder engagement and collaboration, as working together will see far greater outcomes achieved,” Mr Walls said.

“I wish to thank David for his tenure and strong leadership over the past two years and also want to thank the City of Melbourne, MAB, Mirvac and Lend Lease for their ongoing financial and board support and the Docklands Chamber of Commerce for their support and partnership.”
