Docklands Dash on the 2010 sports agenda

Next year’s Super Sunset Series of fun runs is coming to Docklands.

On Wednesday, March 10, up to 1000 athletes will wind their way around a picturesque 4km Docklands course.

Participants will walk/run along the waters edge, through Victoria Harbour, Harbour Esplanade and NewQuay.

Hosted by the Melbourne City Sports, the Super Sunset Series is a number of twilight fun run/walks held around inner-city Melbourne. This series there are four venues that offer unique four and eight kilometre courses – through Princes Park,
the Tan Track within Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne Zoo and Docklands.

The event encourages participants of all ages and ability to enter. Adult, Junior, Family and Team Entries are available for participation in a single event or for the entire series.

Participation for the 2009 Super Sunset Series was in excess of over 2800 runners and walkers and the organisers anticipate for the forthcoming series, we expect an increase in participants with the exciting addition of the Docklands events as the series finale. In addition, all series participants (i.e. those that register for the first three events) will receive a complimentary event shirt and all runners will receive a timing chip for each race where their race times will be accurately timed.

Dates and locations:

  • Event 1: Thursday, January 28 - Royal Botanic Gardens: Tan Track (4km and 8km course);
  • Event 2: Wednesday, February 10 – Princes Park (4km and 8 km course);
  • Event 3: Wednesday, February 24 – Melbourne Zoo (4km and 8km course); and
  • Event 4: Wednesday, March 10 – Docklands Dash (4km course only).

Victoria, Melbourne City Sports provides professionally developed and innovative sports activity programs for residents and workers which increases participation in physical activity amongst employees.
