Docklands Commune
28th October, 2012
A colourful new addition has joined Docklands’ public art collection.
Commune has found a home in Docklands Park, where it was installed last month.
The sculpture is a temporary installation, which will be in Docklands until December 16.
Commune was commissioned by the City of Melbourne as part of its Arts Grants program.
Artist Andrew Atchison (pictured right)said the piece took about a year to create from the initial concept to installation.
The sculpture was constructed from a powdered steel frame and spray-painted nylon marine ropes.
“It’s meant to look like a beaded curtain,” Andrew said.
Commune is located in Docklands Park between Bourke St and Collins St.
