Channel tunes in

Open Channel’s new training facility at Docklands Studios was officially opened last month.

The screen-industry training organisation has been based at the new site for about four months after moving from Shed 4 in Victoria Harbour.

Minister for Employment, Skills and Training Brendan O’Connor was at the studios last month to launch Open Channel’s new industry skills centre and mobile training unit, which travels to rural areas.

Open Channel’s new home was constructed with the help of a State Government grant.

Mr O’Connor said the $483,000 grant was an investment in the screen industry and in indigenous training.

Open Channel executive director Marc Gracie said recent partnerships, including the relationship with Docklands Studios, had brought a new energy to Open Channel.
