Chamber challengers are champion rats

About 100 people took part in the first ever Water Ratrace Corporate Challenge in Docklands last month.

The event, run by Destination Docklands, involved teams racing around Docklands and completing challenges in return for points at checkpoints across the suburb.

Challenges included swimming laps of the YMCA pool, pouring and drinking a beer, getting a hole in one at mini-golf and sailing a boat to the middle of the harbour and back.

The event was hosted by winners of season two of The Amazing Race Australia, Melburnians Shane Haw and Andrew Thoday.

And champion aerial skier Jacqui Cooper competed with the OAMPS Insurance Brokers team, giving them an Olympic edge.

Teams battled the cold weather to make it to as many checkpoints as possible before returning to the Medallion Club at Etihad Stadium before the cut-off time.

The Docklands Chamber of Commerce team, made up of Bill Reid, Sally Hewitt, Shane Scanlan and Sean Rogasch, took out the competition, winning a huge range of prizes.

Ticketmaster was runner-up and Medi Awesomeness (from Medibank) was awarded for having the best costumes.

Destination Docklands CEO Anita Donnelly said the event had been a great success and the organisation had received plenty of positive feedback from the teams involved.
