A dawn service to remember

In keeping with RSL Victoria recommendations and observing ANZAC Day 2020 from the home, the Docklands Chamber of Commerce (DCC) hosted two commemorations in Docklands on April 25.

With residents across Docklands observing a minute’s silence from their balconies, two ex-navy personnel Jamie Lawson and Stuart McCorkelle delivered The Last Post and The Rouse at Yarra’s Edge (near Forge) and Victoria Harbour (Merchant St grassed area), respectively.

The commemoration was supported by Skunkwork Productions, with the DCC donating $500 to the Victorian RSL.

And in a particularly special moment for Docklands, 99-year-old Yarra’s Edge resident James Brooks, a World War II veteran, was accompanied by his daughter Jennifer Garrison for the commemoration.

Mr Brooks, or “Jim” as he prefers, was interviewed by Channel 7 on the morning, and posed for a photo alongside Mr Lawson following the service near Wharf’s Landing.
