Docklanders meet their candidates for Town Hall

On September 23, Community3008 inc. hosted 10 out of the 11 Lord Mayoral candidates for the City of Melbourne’s council elections.

It was a great community night with a fantastic turnout, and we hope that all of you who attended now feel more informed about what each candidate has to offer Docklands.

For those of you who were unable to attend our meeting, the VEC website, now has information on each of the potential leadership teams (Lord Mayor and Deputy Lord Mayor), as well as those nominating as councillors.

The information is detailed and shows each nominee’s preferences, so it is well worth taking a little time to see where your vote goes.

The growth of Community3008 inc. shows how important a membership-based community group is in our relatively new suburb, and we hope as it grows it will continue to be a valued place for residents and small local business owners to seek information, share concerns and celebrate the wonderful suburb we live in.

We are currently seeking a treasurer and welcome members who would like to become part of the executive team.

At this stage we will be taking a breather in October with no current meeting set, however sometimes the need does arise for a last-minute arrangement and the best way to gain information for meetings is to join up to Community3008 inc. via our website: community3008.org.au

We also utilise our local Docklands Facebook groups, as we find this is the quickest and easiest way to get the word out. We would also love to hear from any building managers and OCs should they also wish to help us publicise meetings and events.

Membership is $5 annually per person and your support and interest is appreciated and important to help the social infrastructure of our suburb grow.
