Community3088 Inc. welcomes you
For those that are new to Docklands or who haven’t heard about the suburb’s new resident and small business community group, Community3008 Inc. has been formed to fill the need for a membership-based community group in Docklands.
The group evolved as a community connection project via the Docklands Stakeholder Group and is supported by the City of Melbourne.
The group is still in the early stages and encourages new members to not only join, but also to become part of the committee, so you can have input into what activities and meeting information nights you’d like to experience and share with others in Docklands.
An active committee and membership is vital so the community can work together representing, and advocating for, those who live and run their small businesses in our great suburb.
After a very busy September, Community3008 Inc. took some time off in October to concentrate on forward planning and growing membership. We do hope that our “Meet the Lord Mayor candidates” night in September gave all who turned up a better insight into our potential Lord Mayors and their offering to the Docklands community.
November’s meeting date is yet to set, but we are working on a “Marina-based” night and a catch-up on some of the local happenings around Docklands.
If you are already a member, a meeting date will be sent out soon via email, so please make sure [email protected] is in your address book to prevent notices going into your junk folder.
For those who have not yet joined up you can do so on our website, and hit the “join” button. Yearly membership is $5 per person.
For those wanting more information about Community3008 Inc. the following is the group’s CAV (Consumer Affairs Victoria) purpose statement, and more can be found here.
Community 3008 Inc. endeavours to be for the benefit and well-being of the community of the Docklands, people, and place.
We aim to pursue this through:
- Identifying, investigating, and advocating on issues of concern for the Docklands Community as a whole, being businesses, residents, individual community groups and our general Docklands environs.
- Hosting events and initiatives, to promote the flow of information, informed decision making and community bonding.
- Facilitating and/or participating in networks and activities to represent and advance the interests of the Docklands community, including how Docklands is positively promoted as a community to live, work and play.
- Linking up in partnership with CoM neighbourhood community groups, to additionally promote a joint community neighbourhood networking.
We are looking forwards to seeing lots of new faces at the November meeting, for more details feel free to email us at [email protected] or visit our website at www.community3008.org.au
