Community3008 Inc. continues to grow

Our new organisation centred around facilitating community spirit for Docklands residents and local small business owners continues to grow stronger.

The meeting on August 28 will give those attending a chance to chat with Lord Mayor Nick Reece and Cr Jamal Hakim in their current City of Melbourne roles about current matters affecting Docklands.

There will also be a chance to meet with Dean Robertson, who is head of security for the City of Melbourne, as well as with a representative from Victoria Police.

Added into the mix will be Daniel Hibberd – president of the Docklands Chamber of Commerce – who is facilitating the rolling out the Docklands Farmers Market, which is an initiative created out of the Docklands Stakeholder Group.

In September, Community3008 inc. will be holding a special meeting: “Meet the Lord Mayor Candidates” – a chance for the community to hear from candidates running for Lord Mayor in the City of Melbourne elections to be held via postal voting this October. 

We aim to have all the candidates speaking at the meeting in an open and fair forum. This is an opportunity for the community to ask about candidates’ potential policies and what the future Lord Mayor will do to support those living and running small businesses in Docklands.

Regarding the elections, ballot papers will be mailed out between October 7 and 10 so if you are enrolled to vote and do not receive your ballot papers or just have general queries about Local Government Elections you can chase them up via the VEC, (Victorian Electoral Commission).

Friday, October 25, 2024, at 6pm is the deadline for completion of papers and all papers must be received by the VEC by 12pm on November 1. Election results will be declared on November 15.

If you feel you’d like to serve your community and get involved in local government – there is still time to enrol as a local council candidate as the deadline is on Tuesday, September 17 at 12pm. The deadline has now passed to enrol to vote.
