A cute addition to Docklands

Three-month-old Shiba Inu Kira has only been living in Docklands for a few weeks and is already loving the city life.

Kira’s fur-parent and NewQuay resident, John Do, said Kira was the perfect apartment dog.

“She’s very independent. She looks after herself. At the apartment she mostly just sleeps and eats,” Mr Do said.

Typical of a Shiba Inu, the ancient canine breed from Japan, Kira is both stubborn and playful.

“She loves playing with her toys and other dogs. She can be very bitey though. She puts everything in her mouth. She has plenty of toys she can play with and she goes to town on them,” Mr Do said.

Despite her miniature body, little Kira loves playing with dogs 10 times her size.

“Kira has made a lot of friends in the past few weeks. She’s played with a greyhound and a chow-chow,” Mr Do said.

Kira’s “parents” have created an Instagram account for her. And with her puppy eyes and sweet temperament, Kira has the potential to become an internet sensation.

Mr Do said he thought Docklands had a great community for dogs and their owners.

“There are so many dogs in Docklands that Kira can socialise with. I often take Kira to NewQuay and we stroll down the Harbour Esplanade. Kira loves it.”
