Kick start your workplace in the New Year and get involved in Melbourne’s premier weekly lunchtime sports competition.

Commencing February 2012, Active Melbourne City Sports offers soccer, netball, basketball and lawn bowls competitions at convenient CBD locations to cater to the corporate community.

Games are approximately 30 minutes in duration to ensure enough time to return to the office. In addition to netball and lawn bowls, this season Active Melbourne City Sports is excited to launch a lunchtime soccer competition on Thursday at Flagstaff Gardens – located in close proximity to Docklands.

There’s no better way to motivate your workplace than through team sports. For full competition details and to register your team visit http://www.melbournecitysports.ymca.org.au.

Take on the rest of the corporate community and rally your colleagues for an afternoon along Harbour Esplanade, Docklands for a team-building activity which everyone can enjoy.

Celebrate with your team after the event with presentations taking place at Watermark where you can enjoy a celebratory drink and meal. Register your team of 21 today at http://www.melbournecitysports.ymca.org.au.

Tan Team Challenge Relay

The Tan Team Challenge Relay is back for 2012.

This year’s Tan Team Challenge Relay will see a format like no other.

Teams of four are required to complete three laps of the Tan Track. Strategy is the key to winning as runners will need to pre-determine their start and finish legs of the race. This means teams will need to decide the distance around the Tan that each runner will run.

Here are some ways to increase your team’s racing strategies:

Choose at least one or two runners who can complete at least one lap of the Tan Track at a comfortable pace.

Take advantage of strong sprinters who can dominate the Anderson Street Hill or pick up ground and take over in the final stretch.

Start your strongest runner first to give you a good start to the race.

The Tan Team Challenge Relay will be held on March 14. You can register your team of four at http://www.melbournecitysports.ymca.org.au
