Featuring Docklands

Have you ever watched the news only to find the backdrop behind the presenter is the same as the view from your balcony?

For residents of the Nolan building at NewQuay, this isn’t out of the ordinary, with a Channel 7 camera installed in the building in 2003, while it was still under construction.

According to a Channel 7 spokesperson, the camera is remotely controlled at the broadcast centre and is primarily used as a backdrop for the news program, in conjunction with a camera at the Hilton South Wharf.

The spokesperson also said it was used on production including the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal, sporting telecasts from Etihad Stadium and New Year’s Eve fireworks.

The camera has also been used to capture footage of police incidents, traffic incidents, storms and time-lapse footage.
